A large Original Oil Painting measuring 70cm high and 62cm in width.
Very old.....the use of a hand adze can be seen to the back of the frame. Age cracking to paint and some general wear ads to the attractiveness of this lovely old Religious piece of Art. We date this piece as at least late 1800's but it may well date to the early to mid 1800's.
AS a part of spreading Catholosiscm to the far flung reaches of Peru the Spaniards actually bought out painters & Artists to teach the locals how to paint. ...hence the many retablos and religious art pieces within the country.
