  • Vintage Air New Zealand Junior Jet Club Advertising Badge
Another slightly different children's badge from Air New Zealand. Air New Zealand began as TEAL (Tasman Empire Airways Limited) in 1940, operating Short Empire flying boats on trans-Tasman routes. Following World War II, TEAL operated weekly flights from Auckland to Sydney, and added Wellington and Fiji to its routes. The New Zealand and Australian governments purchased 50% stakes in TEAL in 1953, and the airline ended flying boat operations in favour of propeller airliners by 1960. With the introduction of the DC-8 in 1965, TEAL became Air New Zealand.....the New Zealand government having purchased Australia's 50% stake in the carrier. In 1978, the domestic airline National Airways Corporation (NAC) and its subsidiary Safe Air were merged into Air New Zealand to form a single national airline, further expanding the carrier's operations.

  • Northwest Orient Airlines Child's Purse - Circa 1970's
Neat little Child's plastic souvenir purse just 3 1/2" x 2 14' in size. Northwest Airlines Corp. (NWA) was a major United States airline founded in 1926 and absorbed into Delta Air Lines Inc. by a merger. Approved on October 29, 2008, the merger made Delta the largest airline in the world. Northwest continued to operate under its own name and brand until the integration of the carriers was completed on January 31, 2010. Northwest was headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota, near Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. After World War II it became dominant in the trans-Pacific market with a hub in Tokyo, Japan (initially Haneda Airport, later Narita International Airport). After acquiring Republic Airlines in 1986, Northwest also established major hubs at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Memphis International Airport. In 1993 it began a strategic alliance with KLM and a jointly-coordinated European hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The Detroit and Minneapolis operations were retained as Delta hubs. However, the Memphis operation has been reduced from more than 300 to fewer than 100 flights a day, and the nonstop service to Amsterdam has been terminated. Prior to its merger with Delta, Northwest was the world's sixth largest airline in terms of domestic and international scheduled passenger miles flown and the U.S.'s sixth largest airline in terms of domestic passenger miles flown.

  • S.S. Ruahine Ships Souvenir Badge
A very nice MINT Souvenir Ships Badge for the S.S. RUAHINE. The badge has a diameter of one inch and is enamel over brass.... and is still on the original card. With the success of the RMS Rangitoto & Rangitane The New Zealand Shipping Co ordered a third ship to to operate on the lucrative service. She was built by John Brown & Co at Glasgow in yard 658, and she was launched on July 27, 1950, and was named Ruahine . She was the third and the last post war ship to be built for the NZSC. In addition, she would proudly bear this greatly revered name for the next twelve years. Ruahine’s outward design was very similar to her larger sisters and upon first sight she would easily be recognisable as a member of the fleet. Although there were distinctive differences, such as, Ruahine only had three lifeboats slung along on either side. Her after decks were very much shorter. Also, she had a different internal layout and accommodated less passengers than her two larger sisters. Thus although she looked part very similar to her bigger sisters, you knew at first sight that this was the Ruahine. She was completed and ran her sea trials in May 1951 and was duly delivered to her owners. She departed for her maiden voyage London to Wellington on May 22, sailing via Curacao, Panama, Tahiti to Wellington. Later she would also visit Auckland and Lyttleton. Returning to the UK she would sail via Tahiti, Panama, Miami, Bermuda to London. RMS Oriental Rio, ex Ruahine was finally sold to be broken up in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 1973.
