  • A Pair of Victorian ARTS & CRAFTS Piano Candle Sconces Circa 1890
A lovely pair of Piano Candle Sconces fashioned in solid brass...the design is tending more towards ARTS & CRAFTS with a hint of Art Nouveau coming into the design. The sconces are in very nice condition...there are no makers marks as was quite common with these items. Each one is 8 1/2" in length. The ARTS & CRAFTS MOVEMENT commenced around 1860 and became very strong in the late 1800's through to around 1900. In the United Kingdom Art Nouveau developed out of the Arts and Crafts Movement during the 1880's so I'd place these sconces as around 1890-1900 as they show signs of both movements.

  • Art Deco
The ever popular Crinoline Lady depicted with child in the form of a Table Lamp. This very Kitsch piece is made of Plaster with a lustre finish to the skirt. We date this as late Art Deco period and the condition is really very good for age......many of these plaster ware ornaments show a lot of flaking to the surface but this one is in exceptional condition with a just a few very small bits of paint loss. Hand painted finishing to faces and hair. The Figurine measures 10" in height and is 12" across at the widest point. Height to the shade is 16". The lamp is in working condition....looks to have had new bulb socket and wiring maybe 20 or more years ago but will obviously need re-wiring to local country standards.

The are made in the GOTHIC REVIVAL style and are solid brass so are rather heavy...they stand 15 inches tall. Certainly they have a very medieval rather primitive feel and look...quite unusual......I love them! Sourced in England in late 2017.

A silver plated Electric CANDELABRA from a Royal Navy vessel or possibly from The Royal Navy College at Greenwich. The scroll branches have hexagonal drip pans issuing from a fluted column with the Royal Navy Anchor motif applied at center. The column sits on a large 'weighted' base with Art Deco circular steps. The Candelabra with it's shades is 19" in height and 14" across with the base having a diameter of 6". The base has suffered from 'polishing' over the years resulting in the silver plate being worn through to the brass under. The shades are not the original ones. • Magnificent Victorian Heavy Cut Crystal Table Lamp
This superb old Table Lamp dates we believe to the late 1800's...….There is a 'breather' hole at top so possibly used initially as a Gas Lamp, then later with electricity. The lamp comes in two pieces and has a total height of 16 inches and a maximum diameter of around 7 inches. Beautiful heavy cut crystal with typical Victorian Foliage embellishments. Of British origin. In perfect condition but an inner rim chip and nibbles where the top piece fits on the base not actually seen. The base has a slot cut out for a cord but there are no electrical fittings with the piece but basically all that is required is a mounted bulb on a base with stem plus the cord and off/on switch.

  • A Pair of Ornate Victorian Candle Sticks Circa 1860 -1880
An impressive old pair of 'Sticks' standing 10" tall with a base diameter of 4 5/8". The base material is copper with only remnants of the original Sheffield Silver Plate still showing due to "polishing" over the past 130 plus years. The lovely ornate decorative parts were once covered with a gilt or brass covering and on the bases most of this is still evident. As was common with old Victorian 'sticks' the bases are filled with a mix of glass, stones, and pitch... for 'weighting' purposes. There are no Makers Marks but one can see the old lines where the Sheffield foil plate was applied so definitely English pieces made in the Sheffield or Birmingham area.A very pretty pair of old Victorian Candle Sticks.

  • A Pair Of German
An outstanding Pair of Antique German Candelabras made by the World Renowned firm of J.P. Kayser & Sohn AG around 1880-1890.... prior to the use of The KAYSERZINN Trade Mark which was started in 1893 soley for the use of their ART NOUVEAU or JUGENSTIL products. There are very slight 'hints' of Nouveau in these candelabras but essentially they are still highly Germanic Victorian in design. These pieces are fashioned in PEWTER with Silver Plate over and they stand 14" in height with a width of 9 3/4". These hand made pieces differ is a little taller than the other and the drip trays differ also. Condition is good for age but there is some loss of the silver plating in different spots....however these are truly Classical old gracious pieces with real character and a sense of history ....and made by one of the Worlds mosar respected and recognised makers. In 1862 the Dusseldorf based Kayser family, already in the tin industry, opened a new foundry in the Bockum district of Krefeld. The firm reached its maximum size in 1899 with a workforce of 400. The Krefeld foundry run by Jean Kayser was devoted to mass production, whereby the designs originated from the Cologne studio of Englebert Kayser. At the world exhibitions in Paris (1900), Turin (1902), Dusseldorf and St.Louis (1904), the company enjoyed great success with its "Kayserzinn" or "Kayser pewter", a special lead-free alloy of tin and silver distinguished by its lasting gleam - success which it owed to its outstanding designers: Karl Geyer (1858-1912), Hermann Fauser(1874-1947), Karl Berghof(1881-1967) and others, but their main designer and artistic director was Hugo LEVEN (1874-1956), a name to be compared with that of Liberty's main pewter designer, Archibald KNOX. The decors they designed were inspired by both floral French Art Nouveau and by linear Jugendstil. It was the Kayser company's aim, through its use of the methods of mass production, to make artistically designed, contemporary Jugenstil objects of daily use (such as candlesticks, ashtrays, lamps, beakers, vases, tea and coffee sets) accessible to a broad selection of the public. The artistic significance of Kayserzinn died with the death of Engelbert Kayser in 1911. Kayserzinn objects in pewter are numbered from the (fictitious) number "4000" onwards and marked with the word "Kayserzinn". All objects were marked this way, either in a circular or oval frame, or horizontally. The model number "4000" was introduced in 1894-5 and the last, number "4999" was produced in 1925.
