Japanese Train Drivers Vintage Hat Badge Circa 1940's

I am reliably assured that this is a Japanese train drivers hat badge bought back by a soldier following the occupation of Japan at the end of World War 11. The backing is a black material and the flowers / leaves etc are in a bronze wire braid. Measures 2" in diameter. Most unusual item...also see SUN951 for a similar badge.
