U.S.S. Bainbridge Historical Plaque 1978

This is a very smart ,and quite large plaque commemorating the ships visit to Darwin, Australia, on 7th - 12th July 1978. The plaque measures 14 1/2" x 11" at the widest points and is of wood with metal mountings. The Bainbridge was launched in April 1961 and is notable as the World's first Nuclear Powered Frigate. In June 1975 she was upgraded and re-designated as a Cruiser. Decommissioned in September 1996.
