Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes PRIMO Jewel 1928

Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes PRIMO Jewel 1928
. A nice old gilt on Sterling Silver Jewel (2nd Degree) presented to Sydney Gildersleeves on Nov.24 1928...comes in original box from Cashmore & Co, Birmingham. The Royal Antedeluvian Order of Buffaloes developed from various small bodies formed in England in the mid 19th century. In 1867 a Grand Lodge was established, but soon was racked by schism. In 1923 the Grand Surrey Banner was created to try to overcome this division. Instead, further splits resulted in three separate orders claiming to be the real Grand Surrey Banner. In 1925, the Confederation of Banners (as Lodges are called) created a Grand Council, and two of the rival "Grand Surrey" bodies merged to form the Unified Grand Council. There are still minor differences in the naming of lodge officers and in some rituals, but the principles are the same for all Banners. There are four degrees of within the RAOB. 1.Brother (1st degree) (Kangaroo) 2.Certified Primo (2nd degree) 3.Knight Order of Merit (Knight or Sir) (3rd degree) 4.Roll Of Honour (Right Honourable) (4th degree)
