A round tobacco tin with remnants of paper label to side. Measures 3 1/4" in diameter and 1 1/4' in height. In average condition...clean....no rust. Riverhead Gold' was one of the mixtures sold by the National Tobacco Company (Napier, New Zealand) in the 1920s using locally grown leaves. Tobacco advertising during this period promoted smoking as medically positive, indicated here by the image of a healthy women working with the golden natural product. The National Tobacco Company sold tobacco mixtures containing the locally grown leaves. Their names included Cut Plug No. 10, Navy Cut No. 3, Riverhead Gold and Cavendish Mixture. The blurb claimed that their tobacco did not injure heart, lungs or throat. Medical authorities recommend it. Produced in small quanties compared to brands in large population countries so pretty collectible.
